Revitalization
In Downtown Collingwood

We're Putting On A New Face

Collingwood's Downtown is getting a facelift!

We're Open For Business During Construction
CONSTRUCTION IS ALMOST COMPLETE!

The construction is almost complete on a major downtown revitalization project that will change and improve the appearance and shopping atmosphere in Collingwood's historic downtown heritage district. Collingwood downtown merchants are "open for business as usual" during the construction period, and invite everyone to come downtown often to have a look at the changes that are underway.

M.P. Helena Guergis visited Downtown Collingwood on Friday June 13th, 2009, to present a cheque in the amount of $2 million dollars on behalf of the federal government for the Downtown Collingwood Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Economic Revitalization Plan. In addition, the provincial government contributed $2 million dollars to the project, the Town of Collingwood is investing $2 million dollars and the Collingwood Downtown Business Improvement Area has committed $1 million dollars to the downtown revitalization project.

Downtown Collingwood BIA Chair Jeffrey Shearer said that the funding announcement assures the future for the downtown, adding that the timing was right for the project to move forward, thanks to the generous federal and provincial funding initiatives. "It will be a dramatic improvement over what we have" Shearer added.

Downtown Collingwood BIA Manager Sue Nicholson is grateful for the generous federal and provincial funding. "This is a true partnership from all levels of government, including our own municipal council" Nicholson said.

OFF-STREET PARKING OPPORTUNITIES
with convenient "pedestrian friendly" walkways
to Hurontario Street

Convenient off-street parking lots will make it easy for you to visit us during the downtown construction period. Downtown merchants invite you to come down to see what's happening in your downtown as the revitalization unfolds. These are exciting times, and it's "business as usual" in historic Collingwood Downtown.

Off-street parking lots are available at the corner of Pine and Second Streets, on St. Marie Street between Huron and Simcoe Streets, and on St. Marie Street between Simcoe and Ontario Streets. Also, on-street parking is available on both Pine and St. Marie Streets.

The map below outlines where the off-street parking lots and convenient pedestrian walkways (highlighted in red) are located. The walkways can be found beside the TD and CIBC banks on the west side of Hurontario Street, and beside the Dollar Store, Arena/Town Hall and Shoppers Drug Mart on the east side of Hurontario Street. These walkways make it easy for you to get to and from the parking lots from Hurontario Street.
